I just can't help myself sometimes.

I know I have alot going on here at the moment, packing cases arriving on Thursday ready for us to pack, but sometimes I just like to dream of my favourite places to stay.  We have a very special place that we love to go to (when we can afford to)  It is in Monmouthshire and the food is great the rooms wonderful and the walks are divine
Its called The Bell at Skenfrith, I am afraid I don't have many photos except one of the outside and one of one of the rooms.
You can just see it in the distance

But I have to say most of all that I love to go to France and I just can't wait to go again, so here are some beautiful places for me and you to savour.
Beautiful place in Lagrasse

Restaurant to die for near Pont du Gard calle LisaM

divine house to rent in Normandy
I just loved this one we stayed there for one night last year La Ferme and I couldn't recommend it more.
This is a very famous restaurant just outside Uzes called Le Tracteur where the chef does not decide what the menu is until 6 in the evening so worth it!!

I know I should not be thinking of such things but a girls got to dream, and maybe once we have moved I will be visiting France once more.

Isn't it a shame that we seem to be having some rain at the moment, for some unknown reason we think once the sun comes out its going to stay out forever, but come on this is Great Britain we are talking about here!!

  2. Good luck with the packing up! We used to live near Skenfrith (at Broad Oak) - lovely pub in a pretty area. I never stayed there, but the food is excellent. The Boathouse Annexe at The Saracens Head at Symonds Yat is very nice - lovely room, overlooking the river http://saracensheadinn.co.uk/stay/room12 Abby x

  5. That gite in Normandy is beautiful - I would love to stay somewhere so gorgeous but ouch, it's pricey.

We are planning a France trip in the next couple of months so that my MIL can visit the beaches as she is fascinated by WWII history.

My husband and I spent some time in Normandy in 2009 when we were waiting for my UK marriage visa to come through from Paris, and we fell in love with the region. (I used to live in the north east not far from Strasbourg and didn't know the west so well but it is just lovely.)

And yes to the sunshine thing - I was dismayed when I woke this morning and saw grey skies. I thought the sunshine was here to stay - silly me. :)

  10. Jill, you are a girl after my own heart. In fact we stayed in Lagrass a couple of years ago. We were in a townhouse in the village near to the small covered Halle and the post office, if you can remember where that is!! We had a superb roof terrace which was so lovely in the evenings.

I did a post last year about our walk near the Abbey and around the allotments. There are some nice photos on it.

Good luck with your packing. Things seemed to have moved along very quickly for you.

The sun is going to make a reappearance at the weekend, allegedly!!

  13. I live not far from The Bell and it's one of my favourite places to eat. Once, I even got my work colleagues to go there on a team night out! I love your photo with the cows in the foreground adding a contrast!
