Do I Don't I !!

There are times when I can think of so much to say I don't know where to start, and there are other times when I think maybe I haven't enough to say to make a post worthwhile, and I hope that this isn't one of them.  The last few days I have been turning over in my mind as to whether to have a stall at a Vintage Fair, it is a new event and quite local, but runs for 2 days and I think that is one to many days in a small town in Devon what do you think, any input would be good.
Just a few miles from our house is the lovely Knightshayes a National Trust house, they have a beautiful walled kitchen garden, which I visit often to get ideas and to buy some more unusual vegetable plants.  This year they have started what they call The Inside Out Garden, I hope the photos will give you an insight into what they are trying to achieve, and I shall visit throughout the year and take photos to see how it progresses.

In the garden it is great to see all the vegetables being planted out, and I love the climbing frames that they build for the sweet peas.

On our way to Knightshayes we came across the hunt, we have quite a few hunts around here at least 2 a week, I love the spectacle of it, the horses and people dressed in hunting pink (never sure why it is pink when they wear red coats!!!) but I know that everyone has there own opinions on this event!

Has anyone bought the new Country Living bookazine, its a little expensive but the photos are gorgeous!

Off to Bournemouth tomorrow to visit my Mum & Dad and just booked our train tickets as next week we have a few days in London staying at this little hotel in Belgravia The Lime Tree Hotel, let you know what its like, we are also visiting the Royal Academy to see David Hockney exhibition which I am really looking forward to, and I am sure there will be a little shopping in between. Thank you all everyone who has commented on my blog in the last few weeks, I really love hearing from you.
Have a lovely week.

  2. mornin!

Now that you've thought about doing a fair it would be fun to go ahead although I agree with you about a 2-day fair.
If you know you can cover expenses then everything else will be a bonus and there's usually one busy day!

  4. Lovely photographs, the garden looks amazing. I went to Attingham Park, a National Trust property in Shropshire at the weekend and they have a walled garden which is being regenerated and replanted, fascinating. I love the structures in the garden. Very envious of your trip to see David Hockney's exhibition! Have a gret time, Janex

  6. Hi Jill,
Yes I have ordered the Country Living book and await it's arrival eagerly.
If you have a stall at the vintage fair, let me know, I will come along for sure.
Haven't been to Knightshayes for ages, must do that sometime this year.

    Enjoy your time in Bournemouth.

  7. I foxhunted for years; they are pink coats because they were made by the tailor, Pink! Think of this everytime I see their shop at Heathrow! I think you should go for the stall and let me know how it turns out..I am thinking along the same lines but live in the US..love the "magazine" you bought. They are expensive here, too, but often worth the splurge. Wish they sold that one here...maybe I can find it on Amazon UK...enjoy your blog!

  8. Hi Jill,
Ooh I will have to look out for that Country Living supplement! I loved your photo's of the garden - great rhubarb forcers.
The Hotel looks very nice - I look forward to hearing about your trip to London.
    All best,

  9. Hi Jill,
Of course you should give the fair a go, if you don't you'll always be wondering 'what if'. Your beautiful creations will FLY off the shelf/table and that will give you wings too.
As for the new Country Living mag, I bought it yesterday. A bit of an anti climax for me. Most, if not all ,photos and features were taken from many previous editions accompanied by a superficial advice for interior decorating. A bit too expensive for what it is, but that's just my opinion.
Enjoy Bournemouth and have a safe return.

  12. Hi Jill!
I read this post yesterday but had no time to reply,
I love what you did with your header, love the photo's and I think it's
a very good idea to go and sell your handmade items, I for one love your creations, more people should see (and buy) them, so if you go, good luck!
Also, will have a look at Country Living bookazine, thanks for the tip,
enjoy the rest of the week, Maureen xx

  13. Hi Jill, what lovely images! The inside/out garden looks amazing, and I love the idea of using the tall rhubarb enforcers as potting table legs! I have always enjoyed the visual spectacle of the Hunt, the outfits are SO beautiful and smart (but of course poor fox!). I have picked up the Country Living supplement at least half a dozen times in WHSmith - and each time I sigh and think that it is too expensive. It's slowly wearing me down though, and I suspect that by the end of this weekend, it will be a very welcome addition to my interiors book/magazine pile! Your blog looks gorgeous btw. xx

  14. Hi Jill,
We have a cottage in your bit of Devon. We aren't always there as work in Gloucestershire but I would love to come to a vintage fair. When and where is it? i'm going to see if we can get down if its at a weekend. You should give it a go. Your handmade stuff is lovely and you've a very good eye. I think what I'm trying to say is people like what you like.
