Where is our Summer!!!

Despite the weather we ventured out, I had read about a restaurant called 10 The Square

in a nearby village of Wiveliscombe,  it only opens Friday and Saturday so we decided to try it out, it was so lovely just as I like it very relaxed and served lovely food as there website says a taste of Tuscany, they also do one day cookery classes which I think I may go on! As you can see from the photos the sun did come out for a while.  We then ventured on to Cothay Manor where there was a plant sale, lovely stalls, and I came away with some pots and some new plants for the garden.

lovely cottages in the grounds

not many takers of this lovely ice-cream stall
It was such a shame that it rained and we spent most of our time in the marquee, (sipping a few glasses of Rose!) as the proceeds was going to the local hospice.
I don't know about you but I have a few on-line shops that I really love one of these is Cox and Cox and I have my eye on the following items,

love the lights they would look so nice in the garden on a lovely warm summers evening - I can dream you know! and the blackboard is just what I need for the kitchen.
See you all on Friday when I join the lovely blog Modern Country Style Kitchen Favourites link party, if you want to join in just follow the link opposite.

  1. Oh Jill, I'm SO glad you'll be there at my link party. I hope the Kitchen Favourites'll be a lovely cheer-up after the rainy-rainy weather we're having. Still, having been camping the weekend before last in the pouring rain, I'm at least feeling grateful to be warm and dry!!! I'm so looking forward to seeing what you'll be sharing! New house or old? Choices, choices!!

That cottage looks so quintessentially English, doesn't it? Gorgeous!

  2. Hi Jill, despite the not-so-sunny-weather it still looks great!
And about Stockholm: I would highly recommend the place where we stayed. It is fairly close to city center and is located so beautiful near the lake and a park... wow, a very special and great place to stay. And the food... yes, you really want to go there :-).
    Love, Maaike

  3. Dear Jill,
What a wonderful looking place....delicious and pretty.....and where indeed is our summer. It is meant to be pretty hot on Sunday and Monday !! It's a sure sign that Wimbledon has started !! XXXX

  4. I had a look on the website of 10 The Square - it looks fabulous. I love visiting these kinds of places Jill. I think the UK has some wonderful restaurants and cafes these days.

I do have an inkling that summer is returning this weekend - fingers crossed!

  5. Hi Jill,

Your day out sounds a bit like my day out last Sunday! We had excavate the same sort of weather when we visited our plant fair!

Despite the rain it looks like you had a marvellous time!

    Happy evening!

    Madelief x

  6. Hi Jill, I recently found your blog and enjoy reading it.
I think we had our summer earlier in the year! I hope I'm wrong!

  7. Dear Jill ~ That restaurant and manor house looked so lovely ~ as did the gorgeous cottages! And that ice-cream stall was just so delightfully dinky! The fairy lights are simply beautiful ~ I haven't seen any like that before. Just lovely! Hope you have a great day, and thank you so much for your lovely comment too! :) Love Brenda
