I seem to have had a busy week, visiting the Country Living Fair last Wednesday.
I have been going for quite a few years now and although I always enjoy the fair I do think there are too many exhibitors selling scarfs and jewellery, anyone else agree. After the fair thought I might take a look at Anthropologie in Regent Street and of course didn't leave empty handed so will let you know what I bought when I have taken photos.
Can you hear the drum roll yes at long last I have finished the advent calendar, I have used old french linen for the backing and different vintage french fabrics for the remainder including crystals bought from a Paris Flea market
What do you think?
Off to read some blogs while sitting by the log fire - seems like winter is just around the corner.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous, I love the pretty French fabrics you have used and the beautiful embroidery. Is this for sale?

Advent Calendar is so beautiful It had to take alot of time. I just ordered one from Pottery Barn for my daughter. Yours would have been much nicer.

Your advent calendar is really beautiful, it will make a wonderful family heirloom. I agree with you about the Country Living Fair I have been quite a few times and always enjoyed it but gave it a miss this year. I always walk straight past a lot of the jewellery and scarf type stalls as they are not what I go to the fair for.

Hi Jill,
ReplyDeleteI have been going to The Country Living Fair virtually since it started but have not gone for the last couple of years as I knew it off by heart and it was becoming a little boring. My sister went this year and she said it had changed quite a bit so I think that I will go next year.I do know what you mean about the scarves and jewellery.
I love your advent calendar. You have made it so beautifully and it is now surely a family heirloom. What are you going to put in the pockets I wonder ? XXXX
I didn't go to the CL Fair this year because it's just too busy. Oh my, your advent calendar is gorgeous - I'm super-impressed - the detail is amazing and I love the little angel, and the cross-stitch numbers and the linen fabric! Beautiful! How long did it take you?

I've never seen anything so nice, love all the fabrics you've used and I can see the ammount of work you've put into it, it's something to treasure and be passed down. Did you put your initials and date on it? Lucey x
ReplyDeleteI've never been to the CL fair and would dearly like to go. Maybe next year. It looks fascinating, from your photos.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a marvellous advent calender - huge amount of work - I know only too well the hours and hours involved in cutting out and stitching on tiny bits of fabric - hats off to you for doing such a wonderful job.
Your calender is absolutely adorable. I have been trying to decide which is my favourite date and I think it has to be the 12th. So, I hope there will be something extra special - half-way to Christmas.

Fabulous calendar Jill you are very talented. I enjoyed our day at country living fair with you must do it again. Great to have a sister's day out.
ReplyDeleteI entirely agree with you about the CL fair, in fact I gave up going a couple of years ago after supporting it almost from year one.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adore your advent calendar. What a work of art. I too have some of those crystals collected in France and you have now fired my imagination. I hope I can create something half as good as yours. x
