Riots in London

I am not going to write a long posting on the events that have happened in our lovely country in the last few days, but wanted to show you that the following photos depict  that this is the real Great Britain and it makes me proud to be British!

  1. It's certainly a heart-warming sight! I'm glad they showed the rioters up and demonstrated the true colours of most British people. It IS possible to use people power for good as well. I hope the foreign news shows this positive side of things as much as the bad!

  2. I mentioned the riots briefly in my latest posting about keeping Sunday special... like you, I didn't want to dwell too long on the negative, but couldn't help saying something about it. What annoyed me was that the news coverage gave a mere five minutes or thereabouts to the images you show and the story behind it, small fry compared to the amount of coverage the riots got. I know that the riots had to be reported, but a little more accentuating the positive that evening, would have been helpful and uplifting I think.

  6. Wonderful images Jill of a united front and the true spirit of our country. We have to remember that the rioters are a minority and hopefully this won't happen again. At least things are calmer now but, I feel so sorry for those that have lost their buisinesses, homes and belongings. I am watching the Prime Minister in Parliament as I type this and he has promised to help all of those affected and to bring the rioters to justice. Thanks so much for your comment over at mine. Here's hoping that we can get back to normality now. XXXX

  7. If it wasn't for sights like these we would all be despairing about our fellow humans and what some are capable of. We are in any case but this balances it out.

  8. Hi Jill. My son and his girlfriend arrived in London from Australia for their big month long european trip. I only know from my two visits to this beautiful part of the world it wasnt what we are seeing on the news for the past few days. My son visited my partners sister and her family today in Surrey. I cant wait to go back there. Hope you had a lovely birthday and I love the garden pics.
