Well what a miserable day, it has been rainy and misty and cold all day - so after a morning of sewing I decided I would think about what sort of fabrics and what look I would like to achieve in my bedroom. Do I go for pretty country look with flowers and patterns, or for a classic French look using old white linen sheets for the curtains, lots of monogramme cushions, grey painted furniture, it sounds like I might have decided so what do you think of these looks:
I have also decided to update my banner with a more summery look, and add a few more photos so seems like I am back in the swing of blogging again. After reading a few of your lovely blogs I came to realise that I wasn't the only one having trouble with commenting on blogs, but I think I know how to get around it, you need to go to the settings of the comments page and tick the pop up window box, and then when you sign in to Google don' t tick the box which says keep me signed in. It worked for me. Hope it helps anyone having a problem. Off to hit the ironing basket now! have a lovely rest of your holiday weekend.
I think photo's 1 and 3 are just gorgeous, so that doesn't help you much does it! Whichever style you choose I am sure it will be lovely. The sushine has come out here at last. So good to see after a very grey day.
ReplyDeleteLove the first photo - that would be my choice for bedroom decor. How fab to have a new room to decorate!
ReplyDeleteIt's also been cold and damp here - for 2 days - I am so fed up with this wretched weather - want to curl up with a hot water bottle!
Your banner looks so pretty too.
been a miserable day here too! have been sorting & cleaning.. very therapeutic! Thank you for the google/blogging tip. i am having awful problems with this too. lizzie
ReplyDeleteHi Jill, I love all your photos, except the one with the exposed stone, as I am more of a plaster girl. Your new header is drop-dead-gorgeous! Love Linda x
ReplyDeleteHi Jill,
ReplyDeleteIt must be so much fun decorating your bedroom! Photo's 1 and 2 look beautiful. Looking forward to see which style you will choose.
Love your new banner!
Lieve groet, Madelief x
I like the first 2 photos too - the others are a bit fussy for me, but it's your choice! Enjoy planning and doing it! Abby x
ReplyDeleteDear Jill,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, your new cottage is lovely....so many original features left.
The garden is also beautiful and I love all of the interiors that you have shown today.....I know that you will make it all look wonderful.
.....love your new header too. Very summery.
I had terrible trouble with Blogger for ages as did many, many people. It's all part of it, I think !!!!
Wishing you much happiness and wonderful times in your new home. XXXX
Dear Jill ~ they're all absolutely beautiful, but like Susan, I find myself leaning towards the first three ~ But ~ you have such wonderful taste (as is evidenced by your lovely new header and all your lovely pics!) that whatever you choose will be just perfect! I just wanted to thank you again for your advice on the comment/sign-in problems that I was having ~ it did indeed work perfectly, and I'm so thrilled to be able to leave comments again! Thank you so, so much! Hope you have a lovley day! Love Brenda
ReplyDeleteLoving the 4th image...gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThe first photo is the room where I would feel most comfortable... the bedside table in the second one wouldn't hold enough books for me, and the other rooms just don't seem as welcoming as a bedroom, as number one. Whatever you choose, I am sure you will add your own touch to the basic idea and it will be just You! Lucky you have a husband who is amenable, as I do, but not all are!
ReplyDeleteHi Jill I like the first three pictures.... amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day
Hi Jill!
ReplyDeleteJust read all the posts I had missed, so nice to read everything back to back, and congratulations again with the new house!
For this post, I like nr. 1 and 3 (but not the drapping above the bed), classic and a little frenchy. It's always hard to put your stamp on a room or house isn't it? Good luck choosing the fabric and see you soon,
Maureen x
Your new house looks absolutely stunning and I am amazed at how quickly you seem to be settling in and up and running with blogging again! I think all of these inspirational pics are pretty, and I am sure you will pick "the raisins out of the cake" and create a lovely environment in your new home.
ReplyDeleteYour whole blog has got a wonderfully summery feel to it, and your new garden looks absolutely amazing!
Best of luck with settling in and realizing new project ideas!
Helena
This is the first time I've seen your blog, so hello from me! And what wonderful views you have from your new home! We live in suburbia with no views to speak off, except a peep of the sea in summer when the trees in next door's garden aren't in full leaf: we live just a mile from the coast in Torbay.
ReplyDeleteI like all the bedrooms you have shown except the last one which is too pinky-orange for me and it looks to have a ceramic tiled floor which wouldn't be comfy unless in a very hot climate (yes we have it hot sometimes, but I love the comfort of carpet in a bedroom.) My own favourite style is English country, not really vintage but classic country, as devised by John Fowler and Nancy Lancaster (it was as much contrived by them as is the very popular vintage look today.)
Will look in again and best of luck with your decorating schemes!

Hi Margaret,
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you, I would have left you a comment but see that you have not yet started your blog. You are right the last room was in Provence we stayed there for one night, it was lovely and cool!!
Jill
I don't have my own blog - I love reading others' blogs but I'd not get anything done if I had my own!

J'aime la deuxième.
