Snippets of lovely places to stay and visit

We are often as those that follow my facebook know on our travels to various fairs in the South of England, one of my favourites is The Sussex Brocante at Wisborough Green.  The bonus of doing these fairs is that sometimes we get to stay at some lovely places so I thought I would share these places with you. We love to break our journey to Sussex and have found the most enchanting places we often break our journey at The Walled Kitchen Garden at Pythouse which is between the villages of Semley and Tisbury in Wiltshire, the only day it is closed is Tuesday and you can have coffee lunch and at weekends dinner we love to either stop for coffee or lunch and if the weather is kind to us a lovely stroll around the garden, it is a beautiful and unique place. Here are a few pics to give you a taster

We then stay at one of my favourite places and that is TheHorse Guards Inn  in the village of Tillington near Petworth in Sussex, it is such a lovely and relaxed place to stay, have a drink or eat.  Beautiful surroundings full of country flowers, old country furniture, open fires in the winter and a lovely garden where you can sit on deckchairs, relax in a hammock or on benches or bales of hay covered in sheepskin rugs, just a delightful place, there are 3 rooms, one of which is  small little cottage.

The pub is in  a pretty village, with gorgeous houses and very close to Petworth House and gardens where you can walk to from the pub.

On our way home we like to stop for a while and we found a traditional pub called the The Flowerpots Inn in a village called Cheriton near Alresford in Hampshire, nothing fancy here except a good old English pub, totally unspoilt no music or machines and a very good traditional pub food, but most of all this pub has its own brewery across the car park where they brew their own beer and if you like real ale then you will like this pub, locals were coming in for a pint and leaving with their plastic milk bottles full of beer to take home, and no credit or debit cards here only cash. It was a very welcome break on our long trip home.

I am afraid I did not take many photos of the lovely Sussex Brocante but as usual this was the most lovely fair full of gorgeous things, beautiful customers, stall holders and of course Lucy and her family who help her run this successful fair, the next one is on Thursday the 18th July and if you can this is a definite must if you love beautiful items for you and your home.
