Oh so English

Well holiday is over and we have arrived back into the most gorgeous quintessential English summer, how lucky are we. The weather so reminds me of my childhood when summer seems to go on forever and so do the days in the garden or on the beach, catching shrimps with my father and cooking them in the beach hut for tea perfect!!

My garden has not disappointed me either everything is out and the roses just look lovely as well as my long awaited peonies!

So what is the best thing ever in England but English tea with a proper victoria sandwich. Mad as I am after a holiday I decided to do some cooking.

I love baking but have not done any for a while as I was trying to watch my weight before my holiday (but France has put paid to any weight I lost!!!)

Don't look too bad do they!
and now for the finished result

So I set the table in the garden with one of my pretty china tea sets (roses of course)

and me and MOH (patient man that he is!! All a little feminine for him!!)

sat and had our lovely afternoon tea, I think we should all try and spend sometime doing this as it is truly relaxing.

sorry about all the photos its just that they looked so pretty.

Well back to my book feet up with Wimbledon in the background. (holiday washing can wait)

Oh what lovely shops and holiday house!!!

Well I have to share with you the lovely shops in the area of the Provence that I am at. I can't begin to tell you how evocative they are!!

This shop was amazing it sold a mixture of vintage things and lovely linen and lace clothes, and when you walked in the shop the floor was covered in sand!! It just goes to show that it doesn't rain much in the provence!

This was a little similar to a cath kidston shop in Uzes but only a little bit the lady made large lavender bags in pretty fabric and lovely door stops.

Once again another lovely shop that your euros could just go wild in, unfortunately mine didn't quite run to the amount needed, but lots of ideas and such a lovely shop

I just love the bags and the lovely shoes (I do have a pair of these!) not bought here but courtesy of Brora!!

After our trip to Aix to see the Cote Sud show we stoped at Menerbes in the luberon and the shop was just waiting for a photo to be taken.

This lovely colourful shop was in Arles near the arena, it was full of lovely colourful bags.

and then in the market in Uzes I caught sight of this lady, she just looked so lovely, but somehow I can't see me dressing like this for Waitrose!!
But this lovely holiday was made complete by Sarah and her lovely house that we stayed in

She had such a lovely way of putting vintage, retro and modern styles together.

The views from the terrace were lovely
It was situated in such a lovely quite village

And yet only minutes from Uzes and a lovely restaurant called Le Tracteur. I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely place to anyone!! We are loving it!

Heavenly place!

Well we arrived in France on Monday and our first port of call was a little Chambre d'hote in the Bourgogne area of France. Was I amazed when I saw such a beautiful place! Such a lovely lady ran this most beautiful house, and our bedroom was lovely

Everything was so beautiful especially the garden

Don't you just love those sunbeds!

This was the entrance to where we had the most lovely meal and breakfast!

I just kept taking pictures

and this lovely chair in our room I could just see it now in my living room! French antique markets here we come. http://www.lafermedemarieeugenie.fr/
But there is even more, we visit this other lovely hotel just outside Uzes which once again has such charm

and a lovely pool!

but most of all the couple who owned this lovely place were delightful. Here is the web address for you http://www.les-sardines.com/
Well I have more to tell you especially about the place that we have rented but I am keeping that for later but I just need to tell you that if ever you want a house to rent in the Uzes area of France then this is the one.
